The incident occurred in The Square in Carrigaholt on Wednesday, January 21, at approximately 3.15pm.
A woman in her 40s received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries following the incident and a quantity of cash was reported stolen.
Four men in their 30s were arrested following the incident and are being detained at garda stations across the county.
The Irish Independent understands the commercial premises in question is the Carrigaholt Post Office, located in The Square.
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses following the robbery, asking anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the robbery to come forward.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an incident of robbery that occurred at a commercial premises in Carrigaholt, County Clare, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at approximately 3.15pm,” a garda spokesperson told the Irish Independent.
“A woman in her 40s received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A quantity of cash was reported as stolen.
“Four men, aged in their 30s, have been arrested and conveyed to Garda Stations in County Clare. They’re currently being detained under the provisions of section four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact them. Anyone who was in The Square, Carrigaholt, County Clare, area on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, between 3pm and 3.30pm and who may have any information is asked to contact investigating Gardaí. Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make that footage available.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
