Local people are asking why the new works could not have been combined with flood defence works or the previous work on the Clontarf cycleway, which itself included the replacement of 6.5km of water mains

Commuters travelling into Dublin city from the northside are being warned to expect months of major disruption from next month as works begin on a €25m water infrastructure project along Clontarf Road.

The replacement of the key water main is due to begin just over a year since the completion of the segregated two-way Clontarf cycleway, which also involved the replacement of old water mains and which caused rolling traffic disruption for around four years.
