The Oscars 2026 nominations have been revealed. Surprisingly, Wicked: For Good didn’t get nominated under any Oscar category. The absence of Wicked 2 from this year’s Oscars race prompted fans to vent their frustration online. Fans were upset that the film’s two leads, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, weren’t nominated for the Oscars for their performances.
Wicked: For Good fans are angry about Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Oscar snubs
The 2026 Oscars nominations list includes films like Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners, in different categories. Unfortunately, Wicked: For Good did not secure a nomination in any category for this year’s Oscars, let alone all categories.
Upon realizing that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo weren’t nominated for their performances as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, in Wicked 2, fans expressed their frustration online. Notably, one fan understood why Grande and Erivo didn’t get nominated for their performances. They acknowledged that the acting categories were “stacked” this year to consider including their performances. Nonetheless, they stressed that the film should have received at least a nomination.
The lack of acknowledgment for Cynthia Erivo’s role as Elphaba really bothers me. Like it’s actually completely disrespectful.

They definitely should’ve got some kind of nomination. Acting categories are too stacked this year but there was something for them ?

Ariana and Cynthia carried that film, this makes no sense ?

Meanwhile, one fan chose to look at the bright side. They said the film was “excellent and enjoyable,” even if it didn’t get nominated. They added, “That’s the real win, these awards mean nothing anymore.”
The disappointment at Grande and Erivo getting snubbed reached such a degree that even Grande’s peer in the music industry, Charlie Puth, addressed it. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Ariana and Cynthia not getting nominated for Wicked is such a disappointment.” He continued, “I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I believe the amazing musicality they both showcased should be acknowledged.”
Wicked: For Good getting snubbed at this year’s Oscars is rather astonishing. This is considering how the first film earned 10 nominations and secured two wins — Best Costume Design and Best Production Design — at the 2025 Oscars. Notably, the nominations included Best Actress in a Leading Role for Cynthia Erivo and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Ariana Grande. Erivo lost to Anora’s Mikey Madison, while Grande lost to Emilia Pérez’s Zoe Saldaña.
