Gardai have launched an investigation after a woman sustained serious injuries in a brutal attack on the northside of Dublin city.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Gardai received reports of an assault at a property in the North Strand area of the capital.
A woman aged in her 50s was rushed to hospital, where she continues to receive treatment for her injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of an assault at a domestic residence in the North Strand area, Dublin 3 today, 24th January 2026.
“Gardai were alerted to the incident at approximately 3.45am.
“A woman (50s) was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
“A technical examination of the scene has been completed.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
