Vogue Williams recently expressed her wish to “spend more time in Dublin” following the purchase of a “forever home” in Howth – though her husband isn’t planning to relocate there permanently just yet.
The influencer and podcaster, 40, who was raised in Howth, is keen for their three children, Theodore, Otto and Gigi, who she recently obtained Irish passports for, to “enjoy spending time” in Ireland.
However, Spencer Matthews, 37, has now explained why he wouldn’t contemplate a permanent move to the family-friendly coastal retreat.
Discussing the seaside haven that holds such significance for his wife with the Sunday Times, the former Made in Chelsea star said: “I used to be a bit of a culprit for jokes at Howth’s expense, but I quite like it actually.
“If I had to live there full-time at this stage in my life and career, I would feel like I’m missing out on the hustle and bustle of London.”

Spencer and Vogue are based in London with their children, but their new Howth property sits on a hillside surrounded by trees and greenery.
The home reportedly set them back €2.8million and they spend three weeks there during summer, 10 days over Christmas, plus mid-terms and Easter.
Vogue, who hails from nearby Portmarnock, told The Times that both she and the children “love it” and that her youngsters have started forming friendships there. The I’m a Celeb star shared: “It’s where I grew up; I want our kids to know it and their Irish roots too. Our new home in Howth is our relaxing space, and it is our forever home. The kids love it and have made their own friends, which is so cute.”
Despite the tranquil seclusion of Howth that appealed to Vogue, it’s conveniently just 25 minutes away from the heart of Dublin.

Boasting breathtaking ocean views, top-notch seafood, and a charming village atmosphere, Spencer took to Instagram to express his affection for the place to his 1 million followers.
He penned: “So here’s to falling in love with a place so sweet and true, where happiness fills every corner and joy is found anew. Howth, my darling Howth, forever in my heart you’ll stay, as I recall our love story and treasure it every day.”
However, speaking at the Benecol habit-stacking event in Dublin last week, he emphasised that leaving London behind isn’t a practical choice at present.
He stated: “We’ll have to see. It doesn’t make a huge amount of sense at the moment. Thankfully, we’re both incredibly busy. The majority of our work takes place in London. So as much as we love having Howth, you know, we may choose to spend more time here when we’re a bit older, the kids are a bit older, who knows.
“But currently, we need to be in and around London. You know, even when we were looking at buying our new house in London, there was an idea of moving just outside of London for a bit more space and fresh air and stuff.
“But the reality of that would have been problematic. So living here would be even worse, not worse than the place, but further.”
