An Garda Siochana are seeking the public’s help following a reported theft in the Williamstown area of Waterford City.

The incident occurred sometime between Wednesday, 21 January, and Friday, 23 January.

Speaking on this week’s Garda Watch, Garda Iain O’Byrne outlined the details of the incident and appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

“It took place on the williamstown road between the 21st and 23rd of January, a Ride On Lawnmower was stolen and a window was pried open.”

“We are pursuing lines of inquiry but are urging anyone with information to come forward.”

The incident comes after figures released stated that there were over 1,000 thefts from shops reported in Waterford City in 2025.

These figures were provided by Garda Iain O’Byrne, who joined WLR for this week’s Waterford Garda Watch.

Garda O’Byrne also confirmed the number of reported thefts so far this year.

“There was over a thousand incidents of thefts, in Waterford city and county alone for 2025, these numbers are rising, already this month since the beginning of the year we have had over 60 incidents reported.”
