Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster reaches breaking point next week and climbs up on the garage roof as life gets too much. He’s still struggling badly after the destruction of his marriage and the shocking betrayal from his brother Carl, as well as feeling isolated from his friends.
Brian Packham rushes to get help, and it’s left to Kevin’s estranged wife Abi to talk him down from the edge. Will she be able to give him new hope for the future?
“Kevin’s world has fallen apart,” points out our cobbles source. “Abi leaving him for Carl sent him on a downward spiral and now he’s reached the depths of despair. He can’t even look after himself anymore – and he doesn’t want to…”
Ever since his relationship ended, Kevin has struggled to cope on his own. The house is a tip, he’s shut out all his friends and even Jack is getting the brunt of his bad moods. When his son finds no food at home, and nowhere to sit in their messy living room, he knows things need to change…

Later, after school, Jack returns with Abi by his side and announces that he’s going to stay with her for a few days until Kevin gets himself sorted. Kevin is devastated by his son’s decision, but it hurts even more that Jack can see that he’s struggling.
“Jack leaves with a packed bag and Kevin is crushed,” our spy continues. “In Kevin’s eyes, his loved ones are always rejecting him. First it was Abi and Carl, then Debbie and now his own son is turning his back on him.”
When Kevin pulls a dirty mug out of the sink, and it reads ‘World’s Best Dad’, guilt overwhelms him. He struggles to concentrate at work, disinterested in Brian’s car troubles. When Kev then learns there’s a leak from the roof, he finds himself going up to investigate…
Unstable Kevin is drinking up there, and Brian rushes to the factory to get help. Sally and Tim Metcalfe join Brian’s mission to get Kevin down from the roof, but there’s only one person who can make a difference – Abi.

“Abi climbs up there and joins Kevin,” reveals our informant. “She’s the only other person who knows what it’s like to be betrayed by Carl. Although Abi betrayed him and destroyed their marriage, Kevin still holds a torch for her…”
Will Abi’s words get through to Kevin and help him build a relationship with Jack? Can she help him look to the future?
