First Dates Ireland is back on our screens as a new series kicked off on RTE 2 tonight.

Eight singletons made their way to the First Dates restaurant looking for love – but one couple in particular got viewers talking.

Lisa from Kildare was matched up with Boo, also living in Kildare. While the date was off to a good start with Lisa bringing Boo flowers, she revealed there was more than meets the eye to the sweet gift – that she would explain later.

The pair got on well, but Lisa worried that quiet and calm Boo wouldn’t be able to handle her wild side. As their time together drew to a close, Lisa revealed that she had hidden a hotel room key in the flowers for Boo, as she confessed that she didn’t know whether she would be paired up with someone she wanted to bring to her room after the date.

“What’s this?” asked Boo as she saw the key card, to which Lisa answered, “my room key”, leaving her stunned. “What?” she asked Lisa.

“It was my room key,” Lisa replied. “But I actually think you’re nicer than that. So there’s a driver organised to bring you home.”

Boo remained confused, as she said: “What are you talking about?”

“I have a driver organised to bring you home,” said Lisa. “It’s on the way.”

“Wow, okay,” said Boo. “So you were expecting someone to go up to your room tonight, were you?”

“Yeah, you don’t know who you’re going to meet,” said Lisa. “I think you’re more respectful than that.”

“Well you judged me right,” said Boo.

“Yeah, I think so,” Lisa replied. “You’re a nice girl.”

In the end, it wasn’t to be for the couple. Lisa believed that Boo would be too calm and collected for her wild tendencies, while Boo thought the pair would be better suited as friends.

“I can be a little bit all over the place and it’s fun to be, but it’s a little bit embarrassing for some people,” said Lisa. “I think she deserves better.”

“I would say, maybe good as friends,” said Boo, when asked if they would see each other again romantically. “It was a really fun date, it was great craic, but I think we would be really good as friends.”

First Dates Ireland continues on Thursdays at 9.35pm on RTÉ2.
