Grantchester, the beloved British detective drama starring Robson Green, is now trending in the UK amid the airing of its 10th season. Though the series will end in the near future, it’s still proving to be a hit with audiences.
The ITV series, which is based on James Runcie’s collection of novels, sees Green portray Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, who works with various residents of the titular village in Cambridgeshire.
After premiering in 2014, the series is currently airing its 10th season as Keating teams up with Reverend Alphy Kotteram (Rishi Nair), and the whole show is proving to be a success as it ranks at #6 in ITVX‘s chart.
Featuring past stars including James Norton and Tom Brittney, Grantchester has been lauded by viewers over the years, with IMDb currently reporting an impressive average user rating of 7.9 out of 10 from 20,000 reviews.
“Grantchester since the very first episode has been particularly good viewing,” wrote one fan. “It’s totally engaging, intriguing, and sometimes contains a level of grit… I can’t recall seeing a bad episode, always consistent.”

“Grantchester is moody, brooding and moralistic. Every episode delivers a heavy haunting message. I am fascinated with the ending sermonettes, recounting it’s previous tale into a tasteful dose of morality via reality,” opined another user.
Another user was also full of praise, writing: “It is a pleasant, light, somewhat funny, charming show… I think the acting is excellent, and the stories are within reason, and interesting.”
“I have been an avid watcher of this programme for a number of years,” wrote another viewer. “What I like about the show: It is light entertainment that always circles back to good values, after casting a light on questionable ones.”

While the detective drama has been popular throughout its run, it will be coming to an end next year after ITV confirmed in July that the upcoming 11th season would be its final chapter.
“The bonds we’ve formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene,” said Green in a statement. “I am forever grateful for the memories, friendships and love that this journey has given me. I hope I made you proud.”
Grantchester airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
