A number of people have been hospitalised after a garda car smashed into a van in south Dublin on Sunday morning.

Gardai and National Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene at around 11:20am on Cromwellsfort Road in Walkinstown. A number of videos that appear to capture the aftermath of the collision have been shared on social media.

One of the videos appears to show a female officer removing a woman wearing pink bottoms and a blue top from the back seat of the garda car after the collision. The female officer can be seen helping the woman as she limps to the pavement.

In a separate video a male officer can be seen limping away from the scene and getting into the back of a another garda vehicle. Gardai confirmed that one of the vehicles involved in the collision was an “official Garda vehicle”.

They said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Cromwellsfort Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12 this morning, Sunday 1st February 2026. The collision involved three cars and occurred at approximately 11:20am.

“One of the cars involved in this collision was an official Garda vehicle. A number of people were taken from the scene to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. No further information is available at this time.”
