ZDNET’s key takeawaysAdobe is offering unlimited generations in Firefly through March 16.Firefly is available on the web and via a mobile app. Users are spending more time with Firefly prompts.

If you love using Firefly, Adobe’s AI-first content creation suite, the company is opening up access for the next six weeks to give you even more generations. Through March 16, users can create unlimited images and videos up to 2K resolution via Firefly’s website, Firefly Boards, and the free Firefly app for iOS and Android (more on each below).

Firefly lets users generate royalty-free music, sound effects, and try features like the viral Generative Fill. The increased access is pegged to what Adobe described as a highly content-heavy time of year, with Valentine’s Day coming up.

Adobe mentioned in the announcement that “the average Firefly prompt length doubled in 2025 — showing how creators are engaging more conversationally with creative AI and proving that prompting itself is becoming a core creative skill.”

How to access

Existing Firefly customers on the Pro, Premium, 4,000-credit, 7,000-credit, and 50,000-credit plans can access unlimited generations today. If you haven’t signed up for Firefly yet, just do so before March 16 to get unlimited generations using Adobe’s own Firefly models as well as Google’s Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image Generation, Runway Gen-4 Image, as well as Adobe’s commercially safe Firefly image and video models.

Ways to try Firefly

The first place users go might be Firefly on the web, but if you’re on the go, the Firefly app offers the same experiences in a mobile-friendly interface, making it easy to access tools and projects.

All projects started on the app sync with Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications, allowing users to enjoy project continuity across devices. The app grants users access to its most popular features in content editing, such as Generative Fill and Generative Expand, which let users add, replace, or remove objects with a simple text prompt, while providing a realistic-looking background.

Users can also create images and videos from text prompts and reference assets using Adobe’s advanced Firefly models and third-party partner models, an approach that also just got a major upgrade.

Available models

At Adobe Max in April, Adobe announced that, in addition to housing its own Firefly models, including Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra, Adobe would also host third-party models on its platform. At the time, these models included OpenAI GPT image generation, Google Imagen 3, Google Veo 2, and Black Forest Labs’ Flux 1.1 Pro.

Adobe has since expanded to include even more models: Flux.1 Kontext by Black Forest Labs, Ideogram 3.0 by Ideogram, Ray2 by Luma AI, text-to-video generator from Pika, Gen-4 Image by Runway, and Google’s latest Imagen 4 and Veo 3 models. The vast ecosystem of models aims to provide users the ability to choose which model they want to use, all from the same interface.

Regardless of the model users choose, they will have Content Credentials for AI-generated content, even if they do not use one of the Adobe models. This capability means that the content’s metadata will state whether a model was used to generate the image.

All models are available across Firefly experiences, including the mobile app. Even though the app is free to download, there are tiers of Firefly memberships to access the features. For those who just want to test it out, there is a Firefly Free plan with limited generative credits for both standard and premium features. The paid tiers offer additional access, including Firefly Standard ($10), which grants 2,000 monthly generative credits; Firefly Pro ($30), which grants 7,000 monthly generative credits; and Firefly Premium ($200), which grants 50,000 monthly generative credits.

Firefly Boards

Firefly Boards is an AI-first platform that allows users to ideate by creating mood boards or storyboards. It supports both image and video generation, allowing users to remix uploaded video clips and generate new video footage using Adobe’s Firefly Video Model, or Google’s Veo 3, Luma AI’s Ray2, and Pika’s text-to-video generator.
