The team based in-store is encouraging people to declutter their homes and ‘break up with their stuff’, and is ready to accept all high-quality items to support Enable Ireland, which provides services to over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities.
To soften the break-up blow, the shop is offering an incentive. Donors simply need to come in with a donation and tell staff they want to break up with their stuff. In return, they’ll receive €5.00 off when they spend over €25 in store.
Commenting on the appeal, Oonagh O’Connor, commercial manager at Enable Ireland, said: “We all have items we know we’ve been holding onto for far too long. Clothes, accessories, and other items that are still in great condition but, if we’re honest, we know we’ll never use again. That’s why we’re asking the public to break up with them this Valentine’s.
“Go through your wardrobes, kitchen presses, and chest of drawers. What may no longer have use for you could be exactly what someone else is looking for. We’ll help your donations find the perfect match, and you’ll help raise funds to benefit our vital services.”
Enable Ireland is accepting donations of high-quality items at their store on 29 Main Street, Bray. Members of the public can also donate to one of the charities’ 174 textile banks located across the country.
So what is Enable Ireland really looking for as the campaign gets underway? The team in Bray love to accept donations of clean, good-quality clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories. They also accept towels, linens, homeware, and glassware, as well as collectables, books, loose toys and unwanted gifts.
Unfortunately, the charity cannot accept donations of electrical items, dirty or soiled items. Neither can they take broken items, mattresses, duvets or pillows. This is due to the high cost of disposal.
The Enable Ireland Charity shop on 29 Main Street, Bray, helps the public fall in love with second-hand all year round. It offers a wealth of preloved treasures, from designer clothes and handbags, to trendy shoes and accessories. They also sell classic books, beautiful homewares and more. So you might even pick up something for that one true love in your life while you’re there.
