PASSENGERS on a bus bound for University of Limerick had a lucky escape this morning, as part of a van speared through the top level of the bus onto empty seats. 

The collision between a bus and a van happened this morning, Thursday, February 5, on Upper William Street, just before the junction with High Street.

There were significant traffic delays for morning commuters.  

A distress call came into emergency services at 9.40am and the scene was cleared by 10am. 

A spokesperson for the fire department said: “nobody was trapped or injured” and gardaí also attended the scene.
