Pedestrian (40s) seriously injured in N2 collision in Louth

A stretch of road between Ardee and Collon is closed pending an examination of the scene

A pedestrian in his 40s has been seriously injured in a collision on the N2 in County Louth overnight.

It happened at Funshog, Collon around 3am.

One car was involved.

The pedestrian was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital and was later transferred to Beaumont, where it’s understood he is in a critical condition.

No other injuries are reported.

The road remains closed for an examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Local diversions are in place as a result.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N2 at the time of the collision are being asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
