ITV Racing is back on Saturday with action from Newbury and Warwick, starting here with a novice hurdle over an extended 2m. Fantasy World is a fascinating runner here and he’s a horse I know from my Racing League days as he won a nice prize for me at Yarmouth back in the day. That all said, he will have to be exceptional to win this on jumps debut even though he gets 22lbs from SOBER GLORY. The latter is one of the most exciting novices out there and remains a top-class prospect despite a shock defeat at Sandown before getting back to winning ways at this track last time. He looks special for the Hobbs/White team and Harry Cobden gets the leg up.

Here’s a Listed mares’ novice hurdle over 2m5f. Jubilee Alpha is the most likely winner but despite having taken four races from ten starts in her career I’m often left thinking she’s a tricky horse to get right in that she often travels well but doesn’t find much and this trip is far enough. The one she might have to catch here is HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA, and while the latter might not be good enough in giving 1lb away if she gets Jubilee Alpha off the bridle, she might well outbattle her. Forget her Windsor run as she jumped terribly that day. Gavin Sheehan rides for Jamie Snowden.

13:35 Newbury – Kyntara (each-way)

A handicap hurdle over an extended 3m. A Pai de Nom ran well in the Lanzarote last time but has stamina questions to answer at this trip for a horse at a short price. I’ll chance KYNTARA each-way who has to bounce back from a shocking effort last time when she appeared to have a reasonable chance at Haydock. The Mel Rowley-trained mare has been dropped 2lb for that, and ran all right the time before when fifth at Cheltenham. She stays and can go from the front. Usually a tough mare but she needs to bounce back. A few quid each-way. Charlie Deutsch rides.

The Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices’ Chase over 2m. Promising horses here but one blew everyone away last time and that was STEEL ALLY who destroyed his field in the Grade 2 Howden Noel at Ascot in December. He had a penalty then and skipped the Scilly Isles for this. Rather than being silly, I’m hoping it was a good move by Sam Thomas whose career has been on the up all season. The excellent Dylan Johnston is on board.

Up in class now for the Grade 2 Denman Chase over nearly 3m. It’s D-Day for HAITI COULEURS who has to dispose of L’Homme Presse in style to be considered a Gold Cup hope. Rebecca Curtis’ stable star goes well at this track and started the season with a win here over hurdles. On official adjusted ratings he has 3lb to make up on his big rival but should be in his prime right now and he did look like a chaser with a huge future when landing the Irish National last April. Sean Bowen rides for Rebecca Curtis.

14:25 Warwick – Fugitif

Now a Veterans’ Handicap Chase over 2m4f. Old boy FUGITIF is on second run after a wind operation and while he’s clearly not as good as he was – rated 136 now compared to 148 this time last year – his fourth to Vincenzo at Ascot last time suggested there was still a little puff in the body and this slightly shorter trip will be a help. His old pal Gavin Sheehan takes the ride for Richard Hobson. With just seven runners it’s probably just a small win bet. A shame about the each-way terms.

14:45 Newbury – Lulamba

The Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase over an extended 2m. He might be a novice, but this should be a walk in the park for crack youngster LULAMBA trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Nico de Boinville. The Triumph Hurdle runner-up and Grade 1 Punchestown winner over hurdles has been faultless in two novice chase successes this term and while of course he lacks the experience of the older horses I have long loved novices running in events like this. He should be much the best.

The big betting race of the day in a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m. ALL IN YOU is the play here to confirm form with Let It Rain from Ascot. Let it Rain ran a blinder that day on seasonal debut, but went up 4lb for the defeat. All in You has run since off a 4lb higher mark and scored at Sandown, and is now up another 5lb. So mathematically Let it Rain should have his revenge. However, I think All in You should have won the Ascot race and he looked really good at Sandown from off the pace. He’s improving fast and will be hard to keep out the frame at the very least for James Bowen and Warren Greatrex.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
