Debt settlements reached via an out-of-court mechanism hit a historic high in January, with a total of €773 million dealt with through the mechanism’s platform, the Finance Ministry said Thursday.
The ministry said the record is indicative of the effectiveness of the tool and the participation of debtors in the mechanism. A total of 2,554 settlements were completed in January. Since the mechanism began operating, 53,307 settlements have been completed, which correspond to initial debts of €16.53 billion. Â
