Brazilian fancied to contribute to a high scorer
Howay man! The Premier League‘s first 5:30pm Saturday kickoff of February takes us to the chilly climes of St. James’ Park. After once again struggling to balance Champions League action with domestic chores, can mid-table Newcastle finally start that surge towards the European places? They’ll have to do so on the back of a 3-1 loss to Man City in midweek, as their Carabao Cup defence finally came to an end.
Top six-chasing Brentford certainly won’t make it easy, as they sit seventh in the table ahead of the weekend, and travel on the back of three away wins in four. Unlike Newcastle, they’ve also had a week to prepare for this one, and may have a psychological edge from the result in November’s reverse clash, when a 3-1 win saw the Bees avoid a loss for just the second time in nine head-to-heads.
Here are a few selections from our tipster Andrew Beasley to combine in a Bet Builder. Once again, he’s delivered some insightful tips, including a player pick covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, where any eligible bet on a specific player carries over to their direct replacement if they get subbed off. But enough chat, let’s get Andrew’s Newcastle v Brentford tips.

Brentford (+1)
Aside from having just one point from their last three league games, the problem for Eddie Howe is that his side have an abysmal record against the teams that start the day in the top eight. They have played 10 league matches against them in 2025/26, winning just once.
Meanwhile, Brentford are top of a mini-league of the top eight. They have also won three of their last four away games against such opposition, and even in the course of the exception – a 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge in January – they outscored Chelsea 15-6 in terms of shots.
Factor in Newcastle’s injuries and it feels like the Bees are capable of at least a point, so we’re backing Brentford in the Handicap Betting market.
Over 2.5 Goals
This is unlikely to be boring, as the London Stadium is the only ground to have seen more goals than St James’ Park in the Premier League this season.
History between the teams points in the same direction. The last five meetings all saw both teams score, a minimum of three goals and an average of 4.6 per match. Newcastle won 1-0 at home in 2023, but that was an anomaly.
And while just one of Brentford’s previous eight away games in all competitions has seen more than two goals, it’s worth noting that all of the Bees’ eight prior league matches played against teams currently sitting 6th-13th have featured Over 2.5 Goals.
Seven of those games also saw both teams score, but as the odds are better for Over 2.5 Goals, we’ll take that as the pick here.
Igor Thiago to Score
With Kevin Schade suspended, there is only one man to look at here – a certain Brazilian, whose swap for Yoane Wissa seems like the steal of the century.
Despite failing to score in his previous three league games, Igor Thiago currently stands as the player with the most goals, both real and expected, in the previous five Premier League match weeks.
Some might say it could be the start of a slump. But as he’s a little behind his xG despite scoring 16 goals this season, Thiago is the obvious choice to be an Anytime Goalscorer.
5+ Corners Each Team
None of the last four league meetings of these teams hit double figures for corners. They averaged just 6.8 each. Aim low in the corner market then? Not a bit of it.
Newcastle have had the most home corners of any team in the division. They’ve also had the joint-third most on the road. They’re tied on 71 with Brentford.
The data for this season predicts there to be at least seven corners for each team, though I wouldn’t go that high given the rarity of that outcome.
Newcastle lead the Premier League for matches with at least five corners (on 19), while Brentford have hit that mark in eight of their 12 away games. As such, go to the Each Team Total Corners market and select 5+ Corners Each Team.
Under 3.5 Cards
The card count in league matches between Brentford and Newcastle has been erratic. Both meetings in 2023/24 saw eight cards, whereas the three since have seen eight in total.
The lower end feels likely, as both teams are about average for total cards per game. There have been lots for clubs facing Newcastle, but our referee Andy Madley is unlikely to maintain that trend.
Only Michael Oliver is more card averse, and the Northumberland-born whistler never does Newcastle games. With Madley running the show, we can expect Under 3.5 Cards.
