Ireland risks losing up to €4bn of investment in data centres that have already cleared the planning system despite a lifting of the moratorium on the sector, according to an industry expert.

With the power problem still not resolved, the country now risks losing out on a whole new generation of AI-focused data centres that are increasingly at the heart of the tech sector, said Anthony McDermott of construction consultancy Mitchell McDermott, a major player in the sector.
