The children are being housed in accommodation managed by the Irish Red Cross, and will undergo medical assessments with teams from Children’s Health Ireland.
In what the Health Minister Jennifer Carroll-McNeil described as a lengthy and complex operation, these children made their way to Ireland with the support of Jordan and Norway, who laid on a special flight to get the patients here.
This is in response to an appeal from the World Health Organization (WHO) to address the health needs of people from Gaza.
This is the fifth medical evacuation from Gaza to Ireland, bringing the total number of children treated here to 27 since September 2024.
On a per capita basis, it means Ireland ranks third behind Malta and Norway in terms of the number of children it has evacuated from Gaza for health care.
