Offaly hurling manager Johnny Kelly has described the abolishment of the ‘maor foirne’ role as “absolutely crazy” after his team fell to a six-point defeat in Waterford.
The ban on a management team member being able to pass on-field messages to players dates back several years, but the issue has gained renewed traction this spring as one of several gripes raised by new Cork hurling manager Ben O’Connor.
