World Cup co-hosts Canada have held talks with the FAI about Ireland providing the opposition for a Montreal friendly in June – a fixture that is being discussed as an option regardless of whether Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side qualify for the tournament or not.
Canada need to find opposition for a home friendly in Montreal on June 5 or June 6 with a game against World Cup newcomers Uzbekistan already pencilled in for Edmonton on June 1.
