Fewer than one in two heart attack patients called for help within an hour of the start of symptoms, while many are not getting emergency treatment on time, a new national audit has revealed.

The audit, released today, showed that, in 2024, just 45pc of patients summoned aid within an hour of feeling unwell, down from 49pc in 2023.
