A well loved drapery shop in Belmullet town has announced its intention to close, after nearly eight decades in business.

McAndrews Drapery Store has confirmed it will be closing its doors soon, after 77 years in business.

The drapery store was established by the late Billy McAndrew in 1948.

He and his wife Sal reared their family above the Main Street store.

Billy’s son, owner Liam, told Midwest News that it was a difficult decision to make.

The store will host a closing-down sale over the next number of weeks before officially closing its doors.

Liam and the McAndrew family  have expressed their gratitude to the local community for all the support they’ve received down through the decades.

In addition to his full-time role in business, Liam has been a long time political analyst with Midwest News for election coverage, and he spoke to Midwest News Teresa O’Malley about how it feels  to make the decision to close down…
