Chris Pratt has had many successful movies, including a reboot that was a surprising hit for many. However, nothing is meant to last forever, and his movie is officially leaving the streaming giant, Netflix.

Pratt was originally known as a comedic actor and worked on sitcoms such as Parks and Recreation before going through a major transformation into a Hollywood action star with roles in the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. He has also established himself as a voice actor for big blockbusters such as The Lego Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its upcoming sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Pratt’s successful reboot of a beloved animated cat, The Garfield Movie, is leaving Netflix on March 21. Sequel news was announced in 2025 as Pratt had signed on to voice Garfield again in an untitled sequel to the hit reboot after the 2024 movie grossed over $260 million worldwide at the box office. It’s unclear when the sequel will be released, but more details are expected to be announced soon.

The Garfield Movie showed an unexpected reunion between Garfield and his long-lost father as Garfield is forced to leave his pampered life to organize a high-stakes heist to save his father. The animated reboot also had an all-star voice cast, including Snoop Dogg, the late Angus Cloud, Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, and Samuel L. Jackson. However, despite being a successful movie for Pratt, it received very divided reviews, with critics rating it 36% on Rotten Tomatoes versus a respectable 78% rating from the general audience.

Garfield the cat was created originally by cartoonist Jim Davis in 1978 for a comic strip and chronicled the life of a cynical, overweight orange tabby cat, his owner Jon Arbuckle, and dog Odie. The character made his TV debut in 1982 with the special Here Comes Garfield and had an animated series titled Garfield and Friends, which aired on CBS from 1988 to 1994. There were two live-action movies where Bill Murray voiced Garfield in 2004 with Garfield: The Movie and in 2006 with Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.

Pratt’s other major voice acting gig for the adaptation of Nintendo’s popular gaming franchise, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is due to premiere on April 1, 2026, which has everyone on the edge of their seats as they await what’s in store for Mario and the beloved characters.
