EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders has shared two major Jay Brown updates that have left Lexi devastated as she struggles to adjust with more big changes in her family. Lexi, whose mother Lola was married to Jay until her death in 2023, has already been struggling with her father Ben Mitchell being behind bars and the subsequent demise of his relationship with Callum Highway.
The teen has also been dealing with her concern for grandad Phil as he deals with his best friend Nigel’s worsening dementia.
Meanwhile, Jay has not been seen on Albert Square since last August, with actor Jamie Borthwick axed from the soap a month later.
With the character not returning, the soap has been sprinkling in small details to explain his absence, starting with Lauren saying he was looking after his sick grandfather last September.
Then at Christmas time it was mentioned that Jay was spending the holidays with his new girlfriend.

On Monday’s episode (9 February) Lexi was seen looking upset while holding a letter which was revealed tonight to be from Jay.
Tonight, Lexi was still holding the letter as Callum and Billy were about to take her to see Nigel in hospital.
When Callum asked what was wrong, Lexi ran off before he and Billy found her reading the letter, which also contained a baby scan.
In the letter Jay explained that he was now engaged to his girlfriend and they were expecting a baby, telling Lexi she would be a “big sister.”

Jay also invited Lexi to come and see them, which Lexi said she wanted to do but she was still upset at all the changes that had happened in recent years.
She told Callum and Billy: “I want things to go back to how they were before. Mum and Jay, you and dad.”
Callum replied that it was okay to be sad, given that she’d been through more than any of them in the past few years.
But he and Billy soon managed to make her feel better, by assuring her she’ll always have them as well as her dad and grandad. Their talk appeared to do the trick as Lexi was then ready to go to the hospital and have a McKlunky’s afterwards.
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
