Netflix has added an iconic medical drama to its slate which fans have praised as the ‘best ever’ in the genre, with all 15 seasons available to watch now. ER, which ran from 1994 to 2009, has hit the streaming service in the UK, giving fans 331 episodes to binge at their leisure.

Set in the fictional County General in Chicago, ER follows the professional and personal lives of the hospital’s medical staff, with intense high-stakes storylines and plenty of drama.

The series also served as a launching pad for the careers of some of TV and film’s best-loved stars including George Clooney, who played Dr Doug Ross for the show’s first five seasons.

Other notable names to graduate from the cast include The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies, Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston, and The Affair’s Maura Tierney.

Noah Wyle, who has gone on to produce and star in HBO’s award-winning medical drama The Pitt, also got his start on ER as Dr John Carter.

During its run, ER was acclaimed by critics and was nominated for 124 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning 23, and for 25 Golden Globe Awards, with Anthony Edwards winning for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series in 1998.

The series was also a big hit with viewers, with one IMDb user declaring it “the best medical drama ever”.
