Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has teased another layer to the mystery surrounding suspicious newcomer Jodie Ramsey, thanks to a locket she dug out of a trinket box and then appeared to lie about. The moment came as the character continued to win over her half-sister Shona Platt, despite David Platt’s clear unease.
Today’s (11 February) episode began with David telling a hungover Shona that he finds the newbie “a bit weird”, but Shona told him he “should be supporting her, not attacking her”.
David appeared to take the words to heart. When he saw Jodie later, he admitted to her: “Shona reckons I should get to know you more.”
Jodie heaped praise on him, thanking him for the previous night. “Looking after me… just by being there. It meant everything,” she said.

A bemused David shrugged: “I mean, we just watched a film.”
“Come on, it was so much more than that,” Jodie went on. “The way you were, the way you’ve been… I’ll never be able to thank you enough.” She then gave him a hug from behind, leaving him visibly awkward.
David later confided in Nick that something doesn’t sit right with him about her, and viewers immediately saw that he might have good reason.
Alone, Jodie rifled through a box of trinkets, including a USB stick, a lighter, a ring… and a locket. When Shona arrived home and noticed her holding it, Jodie let her have a look and casually explained: “Oh, this, I got in a charity shop today.”
Shona saw photos of two young people inside it and wondered aloud who they were. That prompted Jodie to say that they should replace them with photos of themselves, leaving Shona touched.

But does Jodie already know who the people in the locket photo are? And what is she hiding, exactly?
Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie and made her debut in the Corriedale crossover special last month, previously confirmed that the locket definitely didn’t come from a charity shop.
“Jodie is deeply troubled, but she isn’t a bad person,” she said. “She likes to mess around and toy with people to amuse herself, but only the ones she thinks deserve it. She has deep-rooted abandonment issues – I’d say she’s a product of what people have put her through.
“I don’t want to say too much. Jodie claims she found it in a charity shop, but that’s a lie to protect herself…”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
