I wouldn’t rule out Inishmot Prince but I’m with Bold Optimist. He’s very interesting now he’s back on the all-weather track. He’s won at Dundalk before and he’s a multiple winner on the turf. He’s unexposed on the all weather having only run twice on the surface. He’s 15lbs below his rating last year and his mark of 69 is more than workable. He could be a blot taking on his rivals. If he can regain any of his old form, he’ll be right there. The Daniel McLoughlin stable couldn’t be in better form either.
Denis Hogan has four runners and I’m with Mehman. I loved the way he finished off behind the reopposing Una Matata last time and he’s got a 16lb swing in the weights after that run. Hopefully from stall two he can break well and track the frontrunners. The extra furlong in this mile distance will suit him too.
Joseph O’Brien’s Heartbeat Supreme will likely be short in the market but he should be hard to beat after finishing third on his debut at Dundalk over 7f last week. That run was a cracking effort and he kept on well against more experienced rivals.
If Salah Belle, who is currently a reserve, gets in here off a mark of 60 I have to back her. She’s a course winner and 7f in handicap company will suit her very well. Her form in this grade will be above anything else in the race.
If she doesn’t run, the main selection is Adrian McGuinness’ Distillate. She’s got a very good record at this track and the booking of Reese Holohan is very interesting, especially given he’s claiming 7lbs. She’ll be well suited by the conditions.
Dusty Rock will be a very short price. She was supposed to run at Dundalk on Wednesday but she didn’t due to vet’s advice. I don’t know if she’ll run and the problem could have been anything. If she runs, she should be hard to beat, with Friendly Invoice the only possible threat.
19:00 – Ebony King (Next best)
I’m going to side with Ebony King. He won his first two Jumps races before falling at Kilbeggan last August and he’s now making his debut on the Flat. He wasn’t right when falling at the last at Kilbeggan but the form of his wins before that have held up. I like Ebony King and he could have a future on the Flat. The booking of Ben Coen is interesting too.
I like Daonethatgotaway for Mark Fahey. He’s a course winner and stepping up to this 1m2f distance will suit him. He hasn’t finished outside of the top three in his last three runs at Dundalk and Reese Holohan is on board while claiming 7lbs which is always a bonus. He’s open to more improvement in an open race.
