Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor reportedly borrowed £12 million from the Royal Family to pay off Virginia Giuffre.

The former prince was allegedly loaned the money from Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and the-then Prince Charles in 2022 and is yet to return any of the sum, according to reports.

It is thought that the late Queen gave her son £7 million with another £3 million reportedly coming from Prince Philip’s estate — a year after his death. Charles is supposed to have lent his brother £1.5 million with other royals helping to make the total.

A source said: “The money from the Royal Family bought her silence but denied Virginia her day in court and the chance to openly challenge his account of what happened.”

The Royal Family supposedly agreed to help Andrew pay the settlement in an attempt to draw attention away from the scandal ahead of the Platinum Jubilee in February 2022, according to the Sun.

The source continued: “They bankrolled his pay-off to his accuser Virginia Giuffre. They bought his lies and helped him try and make the problem go away. His own mother, the late Queen, was left heartbroken by the scandal.

“She could not face banishing Andrew, who was still her beloved son. She knew this was a problem that his brother Charles would tackle once she was gone — it only pushed the scandal down the road.”

Giuffre alleged that she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions, the first occurring when she was 17-years-old.

A photograph of Andrew with his arm around her at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell — Epstein’s associate, who is now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking — has been labelled as evidence supporting her claims by her supporters.

Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing – he reached the £12 million out-of-court settlement with Virginia in March 2022. Virginia died by suicide in April last year at the age of 41. Due to the settlement, Andrew did not have to testify in US court.

The monarchy had concerns about the implications a trial may have, especially following Andrew’s largely criticised Newsnight interview in which he again denied all allegations and claimed to have been at a Pizza Express in Woking on the date in question.

A year after Virginia’s death a book was published in which she details her abuse however the settlement silenced her for a year.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace declined to comment when approached by the Mirror. Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing.
