A woman has been arrested after a suitcase containing over €275,000 cash was found in a car in south Dublin today.

The seizure is part of ongoing investigations targeting an organised crime group involved in drug trafficking and money laundering in the Dublin area and was led by the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT).

During today’s operation, a car was intercepted and stopped in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin 4. Inside the vehicle a suitcase containing €275,000 in cash was discovered.

The car’s sole occupant, a woman in her 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.

A garda spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.”
