Following his side’s victory over Monaghan in Division One of the National Football League at Croke Park, Dublin manager Ger Brennan acknowledged he has been thrilled with the response from his players to remarks he made in the aftermath of a recent defeat to Mayo.

In the wake of their 1-18 to 2-9 reversal against the latter county in MacHale Park, Castlebar at the start of this month, Brennan spoke about the need to cut down the size of his panel before facing Monaghan in GAA HQ this weekend. Somewhat surprisingly, he was quite open about the prospect that some experienced players might be in danger of losing their spot within the set-up.
