A young, critically acclaimed Letterkenny actor has wowed audiences in Derry and is now set to bring a dynamic new theatrical production to An Grianán Theatre, with tickets already selling fast for its upcoming performance on 20th February.
Daithí Ó hAragáin, aged 11, recently lit up the stage at the Millennium Forum in Derry in The Unfinished Broadside, a powerful new production that brings to life an extraordinary and largely untold chapter in the shared history of Ireland, Scotland and the United States.
The production is presented by Sollus Cultural Promotions in association with Inishowen Development Partnership through the International Fund for Ireland–funded EMBRACE Programme.
Blending drama, original music and choreography, The Unfinished Broadside illuminates the remarkable role Ireland and Scotland played in shaping the birth of America. Daithí takes on the role of a young John Dunlap, the Irish printer entrusted with producing the very first printed copies of the Declaration of Independence.

The recent performance in Derry was met with an enthusiastic response from audiences, with many praising the show’s ambition, emotional impact and storytelling. Audience members described it as “a gripping and moving piece of theatre that brings history vividly to life” and “a powerful celebration of courage, identity and migration that resonates deeply today.” Another attendee called it “a stunning collaboration of music, movement and drama that leaves a lasting impression.”
Marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, The Unfinished Broadside features a cast of 40 local performers, including actors, dancers, musicians and singers. The production was written by Jonathan Burges, choreographed by Georgina Kee McCarter, with original music especially composed for the show by Tracey McRory, Richard Laird and Paddy Danagher.

Development Officer with Inishowen Development Partnership, Tracey McRory, said she was delighted to work with cross-border EMBRACE project partners Sollus to bring the production to both Derry and Letterkenny.
“The Unfinished Broadside blends history, intrigue and time-travel storytelling to bring the birth of a nation vividly to life,” she said. “We were thrilled to involve so many talented local people in this production. Daithí, in particular, is establishing himself as one of the region’s most promising young performers, recently starring in Trespasses on Channel 4 and Say Nothing on Disney+.”
Daithí, who trains at Encore Performing Arts Academy in Letterkenny, also shared his excitement at being part of the production, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to help bring this powerful story to audiences during such a significant anniversary year.
Following its successful and warmly received performance at the Millennium Forum, The Unfinished Broadside comes to An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny on 20th February 2026, with tickets now selling fast.
