Coronation Street has “confirmed” who dies as a hidden detail has emerged. A huge storyline is set to shake things up on the cobbles which will see one character left for dead. In a dramatic flashforward which aired on Monday, viewers watched Betsy Swain interviewed by the police after finding a dead body of someone she knows.

Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster were unveiled as each potentially having reason to be brutally killed.

Dressed in wedding clothes, Betsy explained she had been at her mum’s wedding to Carla Connor, but was heading into town when she made the shocking discovery.

As the episode returned to the present day, viewers looked closely at the behaviour of each and every character, and how it could lead to one shocking death in two months time.

As the episode opened, each potential victim was shown on-screen. Maggie stepped out of the Rovers, while Megan left her apartment across the road. Meanwhile, Theo was looking through his window, patiently awaiting Todd to return from his run.

Abi and Kevin

Carl was spotted chatting to Jodie in Roy’s Rolls before Kevin and Abi stopped by to pick up a morning coffee. The former couple recently formed a new-found friendship after realising their shared hatred for Carl Webster.

When Carl spotted them laughing to each other at the counter, he was quick to make a comment. He said: “It didn’t take you two long to get all chummy again did it?”

Abi said: “Wow, it’s astounding isn’t it. How you can go around acting like somehow you’re the victim in all this.”

But what Abi said next had viewers convinced the soap had secretly hinted at who dies.

She said: “You know what Carl, if you don’t take a good look at yourself you’re going to die a very sad and lonely man.”

Taking to social media, soap fans have started to make their own predictions on who will be killed in what viewers have described as an “intriguing” storyline.

After a whirlwind time on the cobbles since he first arrived last year, soap fans are convinced Carl’s reign of terror will finally be brought to an end.

On X, one viewer said: “I am convinced it will be Carl who dies” and a second said: “The only correct answer here is Carl surely his time is up?”

A third said: “Here’s my take on it though…. all the murder victims are either newcomers villains or both. The only ones that have been on screen at least a year are Theo and Carl #corrie so either them two have a bust up, Carl and Kevin have a bust up or something else entirely.”

A fourth said: “It’s got to be Carl or Theo for me” and a fifth added to the conversation online: “I am ruling out Maggie, Jodie and Megan. Carl or Theo but they could murder each other! Gonna be an interesting two months of hunting for clues! Bring it on!”

Another said: “I think it will definitely be Carl. It has to be. Theo shouldn’t get an easy get away.”

Jonathan Howard, who hails from Lancashire, first arrived on the cobbles as the charming yet manipulative Carl Webster and has been at the centre of the drama ever since.

Jonathan’s soap debut was the first time the character of Carl Webster appeared on screen, rarely mentioned by Debbie and Kevin. It’s fair to say that he wasted no time in ruffling feathers.

It was recently revealed that Debbie Webster is Carl’s biological mum and not his sister, and the bombshell news didn’t go down to well.

Although nothing has been confirmed, soap fans are hoping Carl’s time will soon come to an end. Other fans are guessing it could be Theo, bringing the powerful domestic abuse storyline to an end.

Coronation Street airs weekdays at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
