NASHVILLE, TN — February 13, 2026 — Indie developer Gunmetal Games today announced that a free public demo for Rewind 99, its cooperative open-world video rental store simulator, will launch on Steam on February 18, 2026. The demo gives players access to the first two in-game days – approximately 40 minutes of gameplay – allowing them to experience the core systems and strange world of Reshoot Springs for the first time.
In the demo, players will step into the role of a video store owner tasked with managing customers, stocking shelves, and navigating the growing threat of the mysterious corporate rival, RentNet. Along the way, players will meet the eccentric residents of Reshoot Springs, explore the surrounding open world, and experience the core gameplay loop that defines Rewind 99.
Players who explore deeply will also be able to unlock the game’s first wave of side hustles, including installing a Mechanical Bull to bet on customers’ riding skills, partnering with an Illicit Candy Dealer who sends customers into shopping frenzies, hiring a Repo Man to collect overdue rentals, installing a Claw Machine filled with rare prizes and loyalty rewards, and experimenting with Movie Mixing, a system that allows players to create their own custom films within the game.
The demo also introduces players to Rewind 99’s broader progression systems, including 99 unique collectibles, lottery scratchers, full player customization, extensive store customization, and numerous secrets hidden throughout the world.
Rewind 99 will be featured as part of Steam Next Fest beginning February 23, 2026. The development team plans to release multiple demo updates leading into the event, with the goal of expanding the demo experience to approximately 60–90 minutes of gameplay.
The free demo will be available on Steam starting February 18, 2026.
