Coronation Street favourite Catherine Tyldesley has paid tribute to her co-star Aaron McCusker in a heartfelt post, saying the “universe clearly had a plan” in bringing them together.

Tyldesley returned to the ITV soap in October after a seven-year absence, reprising her role as Eva Price. The beloved character arrived in Weatherfield as a member of the Driscoll family, who took over The Rovers.

One member of the Driscoll clan is McCusker’s Ben, who is in a romantic relationship with Eva. He brought along his mother, Maggie, and two sons, Ollie and Will, and they have proven to be popular with viewers so far.

Taking to Instagram , Tyldesley heaped praise on her co-star, saying: “I am so lucky to work with this gent every day.

“Our paths have almost crossed several times in the past with castings for other projects and I’ve admired his work for a long time – here we are, finally working together! The universe clearly had a plan!”

“What an actor this guy is – such fine, detailed work and so generous. But also one of the nicest, funniest people I know. It’s a bloody pleasure standing behind that bar with you each day,” she continued, quipping that she was especially pleased when he brought her chocolate.

The post was greeted warmly by several followers in the comment section, with George Shuttleworth actor Tony Maudsley writing: “Ahhh now this just works a treat!! Perfect match!!”

“It soooooo works with all of you! I love it, I’m invested in it, and I enjoy all the machinations!” wrote another enthusiastic follower, adding: “Thank you for all the brilliant acting!”

While Tyldesley lauded her co-star, McCusker recently teased that there is a huge development awaiting the Driscoll family, with the actor sharing: “There’s a big bombshell that’s about to be dropped that is going to rock us all to our core.”

“It has the potential to bring us all closer together or the potential to tear us completely apart. That’s all I can say, and you’ll have to wait, but it’ll be coming very soon,” added the actor, who has also appeared in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
