Gardaí in Cavan are continuing to investigate the circumstances behind a hit and run incident on the outskirts of the county town yesterday evening that left two people in hospital with serious injuries.
Gardaí have launched a manhunt for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run in Co Cavan on Tuesday evening.
The incident left a young female pedestrian (aged in her 20s) with serious injuries in hospital, and a front seat passenger seriously hospitalised in a coma.
The young woman was rushed to Cavan General Hospital with what have been described as “serious injuries” after the incident which took place along a stretch of the L1513 Loreto Road in Cavan town.
The front seat passenger in the car sustained a serious head injury and was brought to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital, where they remain in a coma in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

The driver of the car ran from the scene, leading to the road being closed off and a full scale garda investigation getting underway.
The Irish Independent understands gardaí are following a definite of inquiry and searched a property last night in a bid to further those inquiries.
It is believed the suspect is known to gardaí. He was in prison recently and was arrested last month while driving for suspected drug driving while trying to “outrun a garda car”.
