For a teenager who thought his world had ended when he was released by his Premier League team – without coming close to a first-team appearance – Dubliner Craig Mahon has shown great resilience as well as talent to carve out a career.
It’s not a criticism to say he has done so in obscurity, with almost 600 appearances across 18 seasons in England, but only two of those games in the Football League.
