Drogheda United chairperson Joanna Byrne, the Sinn Féin TD for Louth, has said that the club’s board of directors have asked her to resign from the position on account of her comments suggesting that Ireland should not play their Nations League games with Israel.
Byrne has refused to step down and asserted that she stands over her comments in a statement released through Sinn Féin this evening.
