Claims of Brazilian beef flooding the market are “extremely misleading” according to the Fine Gael MEP, Sean Kelly, who compared the debate around the Mercosur trade deal to the Brexit campaign in the UK.
The Ireland South MEP said the decision, supported by his own party, to oppose the trade deal has caused “reputational damage” in the EU where it is viewed as “incoherent” with Ireland’s position as an open trading partner.
