Planning permission has been granted for a new hardware store at the former Barnes View Filling Station and TSA Tyre Centre in Ballybofey.
The premises was bought last June by Paddy Gallen of Glenside Stores Ltd, a hardware and building supplies business based on the Glenfin Road.
This week, Donegal County Council gave the go-ahead for the development to the rear of the TSA premises on the Donegal Road. There were no objections lodged against the application.
The proposed development will consist of the construction of a 558.2 sq.m (6,000 sq.ft) warehouse and store, ancillary to the existing retail and commercial premises located on the site. It will also include an accessible storage yard with a vehicle turning area and parking provision.
Last June, the new owner told Donegal Daily the fuel pumps would reopen in the not-too-distant future. The spacious 2.63 acre site includes 1.56 acres of undeveloped zoned land to the rear.
Established in 1980, the filling station and tyre centre were jointly owned by popular local man, Pat Maguire, who passed away in 2019.
