Gardai have obtained clear footage of the moment two thugs savagely kicked, punched, and dropped an E-bike onto a lifeless victim in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

Two men are being sought over the brutal attack that saw the victim repeatedly kicked and stamped in the head – and an E-bike dropped on his neck on Cope Street, just off the old Central Bank building in the heart of Temple Bar at around 12.30am on Thursday morning.

The Irish Mirror has learned that gardai have obtained footage showing the entire brutal attack which has now left the as yet unidentified victim fighting for his life in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.

Sources say it shows that the attackers continued to rain down blows on the victim, even when he appeared to be lifeless in the middle of the road. It is understood that the attack appears to have begun with a verbal row between three men on the street that night. One of the attackers then struck the victim – knocking him to the ground, where he then got on top of him and rained down in excess of 20 punches on him.

The other man involved in the initial verbal row is then understood to have joined in – assisting the assailant that is on top of the victim by kicking the helpless man in the head. The second attacker repeatedly kicked the victim – even standing back at one point and launching a swinging kick at force to the victim’s head. He is understood to have also stamped on the victim’s head.

Gardai suspect that by that point the victim is understood to have been unconscious – laying motionless on the concrete as the two men continue to attack him.

One of the two men then walked over to an E-scooter that was parked at the scene and picked it up, before dropping it down on the already lifeless victim. The two attackers are then suspected of casually walking away from the scene – leaving the man lifeless in the middle of the road.

Gardai have since gone door-to-door to local businesses in the area, and are understood to have harvested CCTV footage depicting the attack. Officers are understood to be looking for two men suspected of being involved in the attack – one of which appeared to be dressed in dark clothing and wearing a hood.

The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased

The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital

The victim is now in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital, where he is being treated for extensive head injuries. He is also understood to be in an induced coma – and there are fears that his condition may further deteriorate.

Sources say gardai have had difficulties in formally identifying the man – whose face was badly injured during the course of the sustained assault. In a press release, gardai have made the unusual step of asking the public for their assistance in identifying the man – by describing a tattoo on his forearm.

The tattoo is described as a blue and white flag with the words ‘Ceol is Beatha’, meaning ‘music is life’.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact them. Anyone who was in the area of Cope Street between midnight and 1am and who may have any information about the incident is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
