The National Space Centre has been given the green-light for a satellite enclosure in Kerry.
National Space Centre Ltd applied to construct a perimeter fenced enclosure in Ballydwyer, Ballymacelligott for the development.
The 0.3 hectare site will house five satellite dish antennas of 3.6 metres maximum height, a control panel, vehicle and pedestrian gates and associated works.
The development, which is located 7KM east of Tralee town, is to provide a satellite internet earth station/gateway to connect people to the internet.
User terminals communicate with this gateway via satellite to transmit and receive data.
Kerry County Council granted permission for the development in September.
Appeals were raised highlighting concerns; including fan noise, impact on agricultural land, privacy concerns and impact on wildlife.
An Coimisiún Pleanála noted the concerns and granted permission to the development subject to nine conditions.
The planning body noted the satellite site would contribute to the roll-out of broadband services in accordance with national, regional and local objectives.
