Eir doesn’t give a dam for its customers or its infrastructure according to a local councillor.
Cllr Stiofan Conaty brought a motion to Cavan County Council calling on the management of Eir to ensure proper maintenance of rural overhead networks were carried out.
He says that they should be answerable to the state and to their customers. Cllr Conaty pointed out that on most rural roads there are wires hanging and poles broken from the damage that was caused almost 13 months ago from Storm Eowyn.
Cllr Noel Connell said that in some cases farmers are unable to cut hedges due to over hanging wires lying on ditches in rural area and they have been that way in some locations for over a year.
Cllr Conaty says Eir owns these poles and therefore should be responsible for the damage that has been caused to them. Cllr Conaty says Eir must take action and take it now.
