Fans of Coronation Street believe they’ve rumbled Ben Driscoll’s real brother in a huge DNA twist.
ITV soap fans will recall that Ben (Aaron McCusker) made his Weatherfield debut with his family last year. His relatives include his sons, Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) and Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), his domineering mum Maggie (Pauline McLynn), and partner Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) – who made her comeback to the street after a seven-year absence.
Ben famously purchased the Rovers Return from Carla Connor (Alison King) as a surprise for Eva, with Maggie providing the remaining funds.
The new arrival has certainly made an impact amongst residents, having defended his son Will following accusations he attacked Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) – which he actually did. Additionally, Will is being groomed by his sports coach Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), who is now pregnant with the teenager’s child, reports the Daily Star.

Ben has recently been forming connections with fellow residents, whilst remaining unaware of his son’s troubling circumstances.
Earlier in the week, the pub landlord shared some friendly exchanges with street favourite Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), who observed their similarities that stemmed from their shared Irish heritage.
“We’re just on the same wavelength, me and you. It must be because we’ve got Irish in us, you know. It’s in the blood,” he remarked. Corrie followers will know that Ben originates from Northern Ireland, the same place Steve’s father, Jim (Charles Lawson), calls home.
Steve’s best friend, Tim (Joe Duttine), soon interrupted the chat, feeling a pang of jealousy over Ben’s growing rapport with Steve.
The bond between Ben and Steve continued to strengthen in Friday’s (February 20) episode, now available for streaming on ITVX. Notably, the pair enjoyed a game of darts at the Rovers together, followed by a few pints.

“It’s nice this, isn’t it? Hanging out with your new bestie,” Ben remarked, to which Steve responded: “Ooh don’t let Timmy hear you say that. He’ll have your guts for garters.”
Steve then revealed that Tim was supposed to accompany him to a football match, but wasn’t feeling up to it, so he offered the ticket to Ben instead, much to Maggie’s visible annoyance.
After witnessing the amusing scenes, several Corrie fans are speculating that Steve could be Ben’s secret half-brother, given their shared Irish heritage and similar personalities.
“Steve and Ben talking s**** in the Rovers and then Steve saying they’re on the same wavelength and it’s Irish in their blood… I wonder is that a hint of something to come down the line that they’re half brothers?” one individual posted on a Facebook fan page.
Another chimed in: “Actually not as mad as it seems, especially with the way Maggie keeps giving them daggers,” whilst a third speculated: “Yes I think this is why Maggie doesn’t want them to be friends… defo sensing a half-brothers plot.”
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and STV, and Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV as part of ITV’s new soap power hour scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale
