Wicklow GAA volunteer Lucy Mooney says she was “very honoured” and “completely surprised” after discovering she had been named the county’s 2025 recipient of the Volunteers in Sport Awards — a recognition she didn’t even know she’d been nominated for.
The Hollywood GAA stalwart learned of the award only when a call from Sport Ireland arrived, a moment she quietly kept to herself until the announcement was made at the club’s dinner dance to huge excitement.
