Both the next-gen Intel Nova Lake and AMD Zen 6 CPUs were originally expected to launch in 2026. However, new reports suggest that the desktop lineups from both Intel and AMD will not launch in 2026 and have been delayed to 2027. It appears the current AI demand and ongoing memory crisis are now affecting desktop CPUs as well. More on the story below.

A new report from a reliable Weibo leaker, Golden Pig Upgrade Pack, suggests that the launch of the Intel Nova Lake CPUs has been moved to 2027 for CES. According to Golden Pig Upgrade Pack:

“It’s alright, the Nova Lake S will also be released in 2027, they’re all rushing to CES.”

Intel previously mentioned in its Q4 and Full-Year 2025 financial report that Nova Lake will launch by the end of 2026. However, in the same financial report, CFO David Zinsner said:

“Obviously, we’re shifting as much as we can over to the data center to meet the high demand. But we can’t completely vacate the client market. So we’re trying to support both as best we can and obviously work our way out of this supply issue. I do believe that the first quarter is the trough.”

Essentially, Intel is shifting some production capacity from the client side to the server side to overcome market shortages and higher server CPU demand. The client/consumer side is taking a back seat. Now, reports of Intel delaying Nova Lake consumer CPUs to 2027 make sense. The growing AI demand and the current memory crisis are disrupting CPU production as well.

However, user Golden Pig Upgrade Pack did mention that the company will be targeting CES 2027, which is set for January 2027. Therefore, you may not have to wait too long.

In another report, reputed publication Benchlife claimed that Zen 6 CPUs, codenamed Olympic Ridge, won’t launch in 2026:

“It is confirmed that we will not see the next generation of Ryzen processors with the Zen 6 processor architecture in 2026, but now there are reports that this platform, codenamed Olympic Ridge, will bring users more processor cores.”

Essentially, both the Intel Nova Lake and AMD Zen 6 CPUs have been delayed to 2027.
