Saturday’s victory over England at Twickenham was a massive occasion for Irish rugby, with the travelling support making their voices heard at the London venue throughout the game.
It did not take long for the English crowd to be silenced once the action got underway. Ireland were the dominant team right from the outset, something that went a long way towards quietening the home fans.
It was very much party mode for Irelands fans in the final quarter of the contest, with the result secured by that point as choruses of Fields of Athenry rang around Twickenham.

Former England Star Taken Aback By Ireland Fans At Twickenham
It was expected that the England supporters would produce a fervent atmosphere for yesterday’s fixture, although they never really managed to get going. In fact, this felt more like a home fixture for Ireland at some points.
In a clip posted to YouTube, former England star James Haskell said the discontent among England supporters made it feel like a majority Irish crowd at the venue.
I was actually near the west carpark area with 20 minutes to go. There was a big trickle of people with 15 minutes to go, there were masses emptying from the stands.
Not a good sign. Very, very upset. I spoke to a number of people in the crowd…
Ireland are smiling. Twickenham was like an Irish crowd here today. There were so many people here today.
It was interesting because I thought the crowd were very quiet at the start of the game. England were very quiet at the start of the game. Not a great day for English rugby.
England fans seem to be quickly losing patience with head coach Steve Borthwick, with the momentum they built for much of 2025 quickly dissipating since the start of the Six Nations.
As for Ireland, they will look to build upon this performance by producing a strong finish to the championship over the coming weeks.
