Two Donegal Airbnb owners have been named among Ireland’s top five hosts – again!

Anna Caples and her husband Peter Higgins picked up the 2026 Airbnb Host Spotlight Award for Best Design Stay for The Hide, their countryside cabin overlooking the dramatic scenery of Glenveagh National Park.

Anna, a milliner, and Peter, an engineer, brought their creative and technical backgrounds together in the design and build of The Hide, a detail that judges highlighted in recognising the cabin’s thoughtful design and high-quality finish.

Just fifteen minutes drive from The Wild Atlantic Way, The Hide is ideal for a peaceful retreat, or as a great base for exploring everything that Donegal has to offer.

The Airbnb Host Spotlight Awards crowned Ireland’s top hosts for 2026 in recognition of the outstanding experiences they create for guests and the positive contribution they make to their local communities.

Peter and Anna began listing on Airbnb in 2016, and have resided in a traditional byre and stone cottage for the last eighteen years.

They operate three self contained hideaways under the collective name Neadú.

Their portfolio includes the one of a kind Birdbox treehouse, also looking over Glenveagh, which has previously won the title of ‘The Most Unique Stay in Ireland’ from Airbnb.

They also have The Cow Shed, which is a little converted byre at the opposite end of their house from the cabin.

Speaking about the 2026 awards, Velma Corcoran, Director of Government Relations and Policy Campaigns, Airbnb said: “We are delighted to celebrate Airbnb hosts across Ireland for their outstanding hospitality and commitment to the hosting community. The time, care and dedication invested in every listing is evident, helping to create memorable and truly authentic experiences for guests. These hosts personify the crucial role that short term rentals play in boosting tourism in rural Ireland.”
