A couple from First Dates Ireland has revealed they are expecting a baby just six months after leaving the show.

Fayth Byrne and James Farrell felt an instant connection while on their first date.

She liked his confidence and how loud he was, and he applied because being single “doesn’t suit” him, he told RTÉ.

“I go a bit mad when I’m by myself. I feel comfortable in a relationship,” James explained.

After hitting it off on First Dates Ireland, the two have spent just one day apart since.

They went on their second date the very next day, when James met Fayth for a coffee while on his lunch break from work.

“We couldn’t stay away from each other,” James said.

Two weeks later, James met Fayth’s mam, who now “adores” him.

Three months after the show, Fayth fell pregnant.

“It was a big shock to both of us and both of our families, but we are over the moon,” Fayth said.

She suffers with endometriosis so the chances of getting pregnant for her were lower than average.

The couple will have a gender reveal party next week, which will see Fayth pop a balloon and James kick a football.

He is obsessed with the sport and hopes that his baby will be the next Katie McCabe or Troy Parrott.

Fayth believes the baby is a girl, but James “knows” it’s a boy.

Regardless of the gender, they are both delighted to be welcoming a new life into the world, and even happier to be doing it together.

“It’s not even like real life, it’s honestly like straight out of a book,” James said while discussing his love for Fayth.

“I got what I wanted,” he added.

Their First Dates Ireland episode aired last week and can be watched back on the RTÉ Player.
