Joining the likes of Ka Boom, Rotten Records and Nosebag Curious, Pellar is run by Morgana Burke and Jemima Rose – two artists passionate about building community through creativity.

Inside the studio, visitors will find an evolving collection of work by local artists and makers, ranging from textiles and ceramics to paintings and handcrafted pieces. Art supplies will soon be added, expanding the space into a resource for both seasoned artists and curious beginners.
The building previously housed the Flapjack Shack before Morgana and Jemima transformed it into the bright, welcoming studio it is today.
Workshops at Pellar
Pellar is already establishing itself as a creative hub, offering a growing programme of workshops:
Create and Connect – Every Wednesday, 5:30–7pm Loosely guided drawing sessions for adults, featuring prompts such as Seasonal Veg Still Life, Beach Treasures, Flowers and Dreams and Magic.
Nancy’s Art Club – Every 1st and 3rd Saturday, 10:30am–12pm A £5 session for children aged three –10, offering creative activities devised by Nancy herself, age four. Grown‑ups are treated to a cup of tea while the little ones create.
The Team Behind the Studio
Morgana previously ran a gallery in Rome, while Jemima has worked in arts galleries across London. Both now live near Helston – Morgana in Mellongoose and Jemima in Cury – and spend much of their time in town.

Their love for Helston’s history, old buildings and traditions, especially the iconic Flora Day, is shaping their plans for the studio.
They hope to build a portfolio of unique, locally made items and eventually invite more artists and makers into the shop. With Flora Day in mind, they are already exploring ideas for custom, one‑of‑a‑kind pieces.

They are also involved in Helston’s Spring Thing and have further workshops in development.
“We really appreciate the support from the community – everyone has been really excited about it,” they told the Packet.
